The Beginning

I don't know what I'm doing, but I've been thinking about and totally excited about the triathlon, and told my friend that I would consider it, but knew I couldn't do the running due to my back. I looked it up online (Irongirl in Columbia MD), and it only is a 3.1 mile run - "I can easily walk that...." I thought.

Then I saw the date - August 24, 2008. That is just after my 40th birthday, so right then I decided I'm in. No ifs ands or backpain about it. If I at least try, I have a chance, and, anyway, I'll never know unless I try..... So, I began telling everyone about my 40th birthday plan (the more people you tell, the more you have to do it.....).

Next steps - well, really, I don't know. I can't run, so start walking and swimming - now? When winter's coming and cold and rain maybe even some snow? I could join a Master's Swim team, but last time I swam (for about a year on my own in 2006), I ended up back in PT (physical therapy) due to over training (not the first time.....).

I looked up Masters swimming and triathlon clubs, but nothing seemed to encompass a newbie and I'm relatively an introvert so I'm not very good at reaching out to strangers for help....

After a few googles trying different nouns to search the same thing, somehow ended up on the Tri Team Z web site. I emailed for more information on Wednesday, they had an Information Session on Friday, and I have just returned from the first meeting after joining their new training group.

What am I doing?
