Well, I'm not sure what I'm doing, but thought I'd put this in a blog for the family to follow along on this new adventure. It all started about three weeks or so ago, when a friend suggested we do a women's only triathlon. I'd been wanting to get out of this funk of the past few years, a cycle of trying to get in shape and ending up back at the physical therapist office.
In the past 7 years (after completing a Century (100-mile bike ride) with the Leukemia Society's excellent Team in Training program), I have done no group and little personal workouts / training. It's been downhill all the way. I was planning to train for the Marine Corps Marathon in 2000, then broke my foot, followed by a tiny rear-ender in a car that exacerbated a slight back condition caused by scoliosis, from which I've never been able to fully recover, followed by an added 10, then 15+ pounds and pretty regular back pain.
Well, I'm sick and tired of it all now, and, while my back has decided to act up and be a regular point of pain in the past few weeks as I've decided to embark on this journey, I no longer care. It's time to either go away, or just run/walk through the pain. I'm taking the latter path....
