In the meantime, training has been going well. At least the swim training, which was my #1 fear. I'm able to swim the distance of the tri (in a pool) within 40 minutes - not sure how that will translate to a lake and the panic of not seeing the bottom and the crush of bodies around, but I know I can do it.
My #2 fear is the run. I know I can complete that within 40 minutes, at a walk/jog pace, so I'm not too concerned. I'm almost at a point where I can finish the distance without walking at all, but have been slacking off the last couple of weeks, so need to pay a little more attention to the run. I've noticed that I have much better runs in nice weather, so should get better with spring. The hip pain that began in December has become manageable.
The one thing I wasn't worried about was the bike ride - so now that's probably going to become my biggest hurdle. My knee does not like my mountain bike anymore - the last time I rode it, I could hardly move my knee and had lingering pain after the ride. That was a few weeks ago. Someone mentioned to me that the seat may have dropped, so I need to check that. More importantly, I have been putting off buying a road bike. Would have gone today, but have been home sick for two days - primarily headaches brought on by the evils of spring and stress at work.
As stated before about this triathlon training: one good thing is I'm not overworking anything - my hip doesn't like running and my knee doesn't like biking - so the burden is being shared, and I'm not overworking any one thing.
I'll try to be more consistent with posts in the future.
